Ultherapy
Focused ultrasound lifting that reaches the deeper layers of the skin

Ultherapy focuses ultrasound energy to a point beneath the surface, passing through the outer skin and creating tiny heat points only in the layers below. It is a common choice when sagging and a softening jawline are the main concern, and the change builds slowly over the weeks and months after treatment.

What it is
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a micro-focused ultrasound lifting device from Merz. During treatment, an ultrasound image lets the doctor see the layers beneath the skin while transducers of different depths deliver energy to the chosen layer.
Pricing is by the number of shots. How many you need is decided after examining your face size, skin thickness and where the sagging starts; the thin, delicate eye area is planned separately as Ultherapy Eye.
How it works
How it works

Like light through a magnifying glass, ultrasound focused to one point passes through the surface and forms a small thermal coagulation point only at the target depth. As the body repairs these points it makes new collagen, and firmer skin and a tidier contour build up gradually. That is why results are judged two to three months later, not on the day.
Is it right for you
Is it right for you?
A good fit when
- Your jawline and lower cheeks have started to sag and lose definition
- You want an option with far less downtime than surgery
- The laxity starts in the deeper layers of the skin
- You want to keep up care every six to twelve months
Talk to your doctor first if
- There is inflammation, a wound or active acne in the area
- You are pregnant or take medication that makes you bleed easily
- You recently had fillers or a thread lift in the area
- Your cheeks are slim and hollowing worries you more than sagging

The process
How a visit works
Consultation & AI skin analysis
An AI skin analysis records where your skin is today; one of our co-directors then examines you and decides whether to treat, how strongly and where.
Preparation
After cleansing, numbing cream goes on for about 30 minutes while your doctor marks the treatment area and shot plan on your face.
Treatment
Your doctor checks the layers on the ultrasound image and changes depth area by area. Deeper passes can feel achy and zinging.
After your visit
After a calming finish you can go home straight away; make-up is usually fine the same day.
Aftercare
Recovery & aftercare
- The area may be swollen or tender to the touch for a few days; this usually settles on its own.
- Bruising or temporary numbness is rare — tell us if it lingers.
- For the first one or two days, avoid saunas, heavy drinking and firm massage.
Sessions & spacing
Most people have one session, review the result and then decide on the next one after a fresh examination six to twelve months later. If you are combining it with Shurink or Thermage, order and spacing are agreed in consultation.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
When will I see results from Ultherapy?
You may feel a slight lift straight away, but the collagen change builds over weeks and is usually judged after two to three months. It varies from person to person, so photos taken under the same conditions are the fairest comparison.
How many shots do I need?
It depends on face size, skin thickness and where the sagging is. More is not automatically better; after your examination we explain the shot count and how it is spread across each area.
Does it hurt?
When the deeper layers are targeted, areas close to bone can feel achy and zinging. We use numbing cream as standard, and if you are sensitive to pain we discuss extra options after your examination.
How is it different from Shurink?
Both are focused ultrasound lifts, but the device, transducers and live imaging differ. Which suits you depends on how deep the sagging is, how often you want treatment and your budget, so we decide together after examining you.
