Doctors’ Column
Doctors’ Column
English editions of the column our clinic publishes in Korean. Each piece explains one question patients often ask — what a treatment does, what it does not, and how to think about it — in plain language. Korean column
- Water glow injections: do they really work, and what do they do in the skin?Water glow injections place hydrating material, usually hyaluronic acid, into the skin. The change is gradual, varies by person and usually needs a course.
- Ultherapy, Shurink and Thermage FLX: all called lifting, so how do they differ?Ultherapy and Shurink focus ultrasound heat into points at set depths; Thermage FLX spreads radiofrequency heat through the skin. How each works and feels.
- Can lasers treat pigmentation, redness and acne scars, and is it the same laser for each?Lasers can help with all three, but not the same laser: pigment, redness and scars each need a different type. Typical sessions, downtime and side effects.
- Do collagen injections such as Re2O really add collagen to your skin?According to its maker, Re2O places processed human skin matrix into the skin rather than only stimulating it. How it differs from PN and HA boosters; risks.
- Do exosomes applied after a laser or microneedling treatment actually work?Exosomes may help skin settle when applied to skin just opened by microneedling or a fractional laser, but the evidence is early and products vary widely.
- Why can the same skin treatment give two people different results? Results differ because skin starts from different places, one treatment name can mean different plans, and how it is carried out matters. What you can ask.
- Melasma, freckles, sun spots and seborrheic keratoses: are they all the same thing?Different causes and depths mean different treatment: spot laser for many freckles and sun spots, slow low-energy care for melasma, removal for raised spots.
- Why does acne keep coming back in the same spot?Acne that returns to one spot usually reflects dense oil glands, a pore that keeps clogging or repeated friction, not poor washing. What helps, what to avoid.
- Can enlarged pores really get smaller again?Pores can't be erased, but they often look smaller once oil, loss of firmness or acne scarring is treated. What skincare can do, and when treatment comes in.
- Does getting laser treatments often make your skin thinner? Not when settings and intervals suit your skin. Lasers aim at pigment, vessels or water; problems come from settings too strong or sessions repeated too soon.
